Learn to navigate your local lumber yard
Lumber yards can sometimes be confusing and overwhelming. If you are looking for guidance for your next trip to the lumber yard, we have you covered! Join Adirondack Architectural Heritage (AARCH) and our friends and partners at Ward Lumber to learn about navigating a lumber yard in search of the best materials for projects large and small. Whether you are an experienced craftsperson or someone with no experience selecting materials, this open house offers a great opportunity to ask questions and explore the basic terminology of a lumber yard. Topics covered will include understanding lumber grading, the use of hardwoods versus softwoods, and foundational information for making the best choice for a variety of project types. As this event will happen ahead of our Power Tools for Women workshop, we encourage the participants of that experience to join this open house.
This open house is co-hosted by our partners at Ward Lumber in Jay. Join us Friday, September 15 from 4:30-6:30 p.m.
This event is free and open to the public.
