On the Water

The Whiteface Region is as defined by water as it is by mountains. From mellow river floats and wide open lake paddles to daring and technical whitewater kayaking, fun awaits on the water.

Franklin Falls Flow has a unique shoreline since it is made by damming the Saranac River at Franklin Falls. The best way to see the full extent of its scenery is by kayak, canoe, or other light watercraft. In places, the water is only 10 feet deep.

Don't miss the park at Lake Everest in Wilmington, which has canoe, kayak, SUP, and aquabike rentals available, as well as a sandy hand launch site if you bring your own watercraft.

Whitewater kayaking is often overlooked in the Whiteface Region, with high-class runs on the West Branch of the Ausable River, to some fun flows that you can lap on the East Branch of the Ausable River adjacent to the Jay Covered Bridge.

Whatever your single craft pleasure, there's a little gem of a location that will provide a great outing. Need guides and rentals? Check out our gear shops.
