Getting there
How to get there: From the intersection of Route 73 and Route 86 in Lake Placid, follow Route 86 toward Wilmington. Continue for just under 3-miles to the Connery Pond Road (dirt) on the left. Drive to the end (0.75 miles) to the parking for Whiteface Landing. The short carry trail to Connery Pond is just prior to the chain gate on the west side of the outlet.
Paddling
The put-in at Long Pond can be a bit tough because of the sunken boulders and rocks along shore. This is a very shallow pond that gets very little visitor interaction. Nice views from on water with the potential of wildlife of all sorts. This pond is also sheltered so it can almost always be counted on as being very calm.
Size in length: Roughly 0.3 miles, point to point
Type of launch: Short carry of 0.2 miles from Connery Pond
Type of water: Flat with mostly calm conditions, no motor boats
