What's that I hear?

Ah, the sweet sounds of summer. One of the best things about living in the Adirondack Park is the abundance of outdoor concerts throughout the summer season. Perhaps it's the long winters, or just the fact that we love taking advantage of the longer days & being in nature, but nowhere that I have lived has offered so many concerts over such a concentrated period of time. And, best of all - many are free. Yes, FREE! If you plan your vacation right, you can catch a concert almost every night of the week. Read on to learn about one of my favorite series - and THE place to be on Thursday nights!

Lots of action, lots of fun!

By beach or by boat

The Wilmington Town Beach, also known as Lake Everest, is the picturesque setting for Wilmington's free Thursday night concert series. I absolutely love this outdoor pavilion setting. It's perfect for concert-goers of all ages as the sounds fill the air whether you are picnicking, playing in the park, or paddling. No matter your energy level, the music will find it's way to you.

Fun for all ages :)

If you haven't been to Lake Everest in a few years, it is defintely time to put it on your docket. The whole area was recently overhauled and it is one of the cleanest, quietest, family-friendly beaches in the area. Yes, I realize most beaches are family-friendly, however this one just really ranks up there for me - it is the perfect place for a day-outing with the little-littles. There is a great playground adjacent to the roped-off swimming area, beach volleyball courts, a place to launch your kayaks and canoes, picnic tables, clean changing rooms (complete with an added attraction that keeps my 5-year-old giggling: an outdoor shower), and charcoal grills that are sporadically placed around the premise just waiting for you to get grillin'.

Don't forget the picnic fixin's!
