About

Lake Everest

Lake Everest is a great spot located off the beaten path. You will find a sandy beach and picnic area, a short hiking trail, tons of birds, wildflowers galore, a volleyball net, grills, and an all access fishing platform.

Getting there

The Town Beach is on Route 86 in Wilmington. Turn onto Bowman Lane and go to the end of the road to park.

The beach

Rentals are available, including aqua bikes, kayaks, canoes, and paddleboards. There's easy access to swimming, boating, volley ball, a playground, and public restrooms. Most of this area has a universal design making it accessible to everyone.

During July and August on Thursday nights there are free concerts.

Hiking

The nature walk is located to the right of the beach when you are looking at Lake Everest. This simple trail loop is a combination of trail and boardwalk.

Birding

A variety of habitats offer a variety of bird species! The slow moving part of the Ausable River hosts ducks, Osprey, Red-winged Blackbirds, and sometimes shorebirds! The woods along the nature trail are home to warblers and Black-capped Chickadees.
