UPHILL Foot Race becomes part of 10th Annual Festival of the Colors
Wilmington, New York - The Whiteface Mountain Regional Visitors Bureau and Santa's Workshop invite all to "run to the North Pole" at the 36th Annual Whiteface Uphill Foot Race on September 14, 2013 in Wilmington, N.Y.
Runners will climb 3,500 feet and 8 miles up the Whiteface Veterans Memorial Highway, past the North Pole's Santa's Workshop, be rewarded at the top with both a medal and 360 degree views of the Adirondack High Peaks, all decked out in the spectacular reds, oranges, yellows of peak foliage season.
This year, the popular 8-mile uphill race to the top of the 5th highest mountain in New York State will be part of the Annual Festival of the Colors, a family-friendly celebration of fall in the Adirondacks that will be held from 10am-5pm that day.
"We've combined the events for the enjoyment of both running enthusiasts and their families and friends," said Michelle Burns, event organizer and director of the Whiteface Mountain Regional Visitors Bureau. "Santa's Workshop is sponsoring the Uphill Foot Race, whose awards will be presented during the Festival of the Colors, where families will enjoy kids activities, arts and crafts, food, performances and a cookie bake off to celebrate the season!"
Registration for the 36th Annual Whiteface Uphill Foot Race is $40 for adults, $30 for military personnel, and $20 for juniors.
